March 2006
Cori Poletto, Being Yoga’s March Student of the Month, is a consistent Bikram Yoga practitioner who has discovered the value of making yoga part of her daily routine. Cori is a focused and connected yoga student and she says, “In life and in yoga, everything I need comes from within.” This practice of turning inward for our answers and letting go of the external is called pratyahara, and is one of the eight limbs of the yogic path. Cori uses breath awareness as a tool to focus inward. She says, “Without my breath I am not calm, centered or focused. With my breath I am complete, my mind is free and I have what I need to do my best. The focus developed on the mat helps me multitask and be more efficient in daily life. It gives me the energy to meet life’s demands with a positive attitude. After class, I feel like I can fly and do anything I put my mind to. Yoga provides me with the focus and inner strength to succeed.”
Cori Poletto is an inspirational student who while on her mat is truly connected in the present moment, listening inward for her answers. Her postures have the beauty and integrity that comes with correct alignment and mental focus. She has also discovered the many benefits that yoga brings to her life off of the mat, to both body and mind. Cori is a wonderful reminder to all of us that the path to harmony begins within.
