JANUARY 2006
The New Year has begun, and many people set some resolutions or good intentions for the year to come. Our January ‘Student of the Month’, Hilda Lopez, began her yoga journey last year on a New Year’s Resolution, hoping to heal her back injury. She was amazed to discover that not only did her back heal, but also all the other aches and pains in her body as well. In addition to the physical benefits of a regular practice, Hilda also finds that yoga helps her to feel more centered and committed in life. Hilda practices all of different styles of yoga offered at our studio and says, “I confess, I love them all”. She enjoys the relaxing long stretches of the Yin class, but also thrives on the challenging aspects of the Bikram and Vinyasa methods. Despite a busy schedule with lots of traveling, Hilda maintains her yoga practice while on the road by using Bikram’s CD, but when she’s home she enjoys the inspiration of her different teachers at Being Yoga. While on her mat, Hilda is positive, open to direction, and focused. Off the mat, she is calm and centered, more open to what life has to offer.
Hilda’s resolutions and good intentions have continued to guide her yoga practice deeper. She has many found benefits to both body and mind and says, “I look forward to practicing for the rest of my life!”
