Irene Jhin does everything she can to practice yoga at least five times a week. “I feel cheated if I can’t come,” Irene reports. “I try to get it in NO MATTER WHAT!”
Irene is driven by positive reinforcement. Since taking up Bikram’s over a year ago, she says things have changed for the better. Yoga has helped her move through a difficult time in her life and come out of it feeling stronger than ever. “Bikram’s gives me a strength that other sports don’t provide.”
“It’s because you can take what you learn from class and apply it to everything outside,” Irene explains. Irene feels that yoga has taught her “self-awareness, patience, persistence, humility, focus, energy-management [something, she points out becomes increasingly important with age], and pride.”
At first, Irene couldn’t look directly at herself in class, but now she can. “Finally,” she says, “I feel OK. I’m finding self-acceptance because yoga has allowed me to get more in touch with the real essence of who I am—am I’m actually liking what I’m seeing!
We at the studio very much like what we see. Keep up the good work, Irene!
