Shawna Scarpitti

February’s theme of the month at Being Yoga is abundance, a fostered sense of gratitude for all the goodness surrounding us, and is key to the yogic path. Our Student of the Month, Shawna Scarpitti, is someone who makes Ôgratitude her attitude’, and she is an inspiration to many.

Shawna was introduced to yoga eight years ago and over time has developed a beautiful and consistent practice. Bikram yoga makes up the core of Shawna’s practice, but she says, “I’m up for any yoga anytime. The strength I feel after class keeps me holding my head high even during the rough spots on this journey called life. Yoga brings confidence and joy into my life and I know it is the key to longevity”. As for the key to her consistent practice Shawna replies, “At least five days a week I just show up. I put my clothes on and show up”.

Those who know Shawna are inspired by her positive energy and kindness, and her practice of living yoga off the mat. She cultivates gratitude for all of the abundance in her life, knowing perspective is important. Shawna says, “I’ve found when we look for the good, we see the good, we receive the good, we become the good. Life is too short not to have a great attitude”.
